Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Design Week Portland panel event!!! We are feeling inspired, energized and thankful! The community conversation on revitalizing our regional and domestic textile systems has just begun...looking forward to more of these! Thank you to @insidefashiondesign and @creativecapitaldesign for organizing this event! Flax = Linen. Interested in growing fiber flax in your yard or small plot? @fibrevolution_pnw will have Willamette Valley grown ‘Agatha’ flax seed, a long line fiber flax variety, available for purchase this weekend at the Oregon Small Farms Conference at Oregon State University. Look for the Independent Organic Services booth during the event, and you can find Fibrevolution’s seed for purchase there. #pnwgrown #flaxseed #linen #regenerativeagriculture
Join us for a Design Week Portland 2018 panel discussion around those who are striving to build local production, from farm to fiber. By strengthening the connections between the passionate, hardworking people that power our local fiber economy, we hope to position the Pacific Northwest to meet the demand for domestic, thoughtfully produced and environmentally responsible fiber, textiles, and apparel. Panelists will share their experience, current projects, and what’s being done to foster growth within their industry. Apparel professionals, land stakeholders, manufacturing specialists, and anyone interested in the farm-to-fiber movement, you’re invited.

We will open with a cocktail hour with food and adult beverages. During the social hour, attendees will have an opportunity to touch and feel some items each panelist has brought that demonstrates their work and to engage in conversations surrounding this important topic. Come meet other like minded individuals to see how best we can support this ongoing challenge in domestic apparel production. 20% of proceeds from this event will be donated to Pacific Northwest Fibershed. ✨✨follow link in bio to register✨✨ #pnw #fiber #textiles #apparel #production #manufacturing #domestic #regional #designweekpdx2018 #DWP2018

We are looking forward to connecting with our community and sharing more about PNW Fibershed’s work, and ways that the community can get involved. Thank you to @brooklyntweed for inviting us to share our story!#brooklyntweedfoundation #regional #fiber #community #pnw
We are ready to get our hands dirty in 2018...so many things to be thankful for and look forward to in the year ahead. Happy New Year!!!✨✨✨ #pnw #textiles #2018
Overwintering 4 acres of fiber flax, which we’ll harvest in the spring. The PNW is in need of more overwintering crops, and we believe fiber flax will be a wonderful addition to regional crop rotations. #linen #cloth #textiles #flaxseed #bastfibers
We have been in conversation with our community for quite some time, about how to best support our fiber economy, while stewarding the land. Through these conversations we have built some wonderful relationships that envision strengthening this system. This is a wonderful piece, written by Jocelyn Tutak of @ecotrust about our partnership, the work we have been doing, and some insight into our community vision for the future. The PNW has an abundance of potential and community support. Together we can all make a difference. Together, we are stronger! We recently had the honor of hosting Alvin Ulrich of Biolin Research in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, for a flax research intensive. Alvin graciously shared his wealth of knowledge in the best agronomic practices to grow flax, as well as taught us how to hand grade and analyze flax straw for quality. Together we dug through historical archives and analyzed regional flax from the Willamette Heritage Center. Thank you @patagonia for sponsoring our research and to StereoEye Productions for documenting our week together. We will be sharing more from our work together very soon! #flax #textiles #oregonstateuniversity #fibershed #pnwgrown #community
