Portland Textile Month

Organized by Textile Hive: Textile Hive was founded to engage and preserve the rich history, intricate techniques, and stunning visual beauty of the Andrea Aranow Textile Design Collection. Comprised of over 40,000 textiles spanning fifty countries, Textile Hive enables a wider conversation around textiles globally through immersive physical and digital experiences.

Why does Portland Textile Month exist?

The goal of the first Textile Month is to bring together the Portland textile community for a month long series of learning, sharing, events/celebrations, and cross pollination among enthusiasts, artists, businesses and institutions. We hope to provide an open platform to engage and share ideas, history, knowledge, experiences, practices across cultures, viewpoints and generations. We draw our inspiration for Portland Textile Month from Textile Month in New York City and Design Week Portland.

What is it?

A series of open houses and events self hosted and open to anyone. Portland Textile Month may also include one central event/meetup where the textile community can gather together.  Self organized and minimally produced for this first year to keep things simple.

Who can participate?

Anyone. Events will be posted/hosted on the PTM website & Eventbrite and can be posted free or paid by the organizers.
