Click this link to register - Wildcraft Studio School

Date: 09/17 & 09/18

Time: 10am-4pm both days

Location: Skyline Fiber Mill & WildCraft West, Portland Studio (601 SE Hawthorne Blvd)

Instructor: Shannon Welsh

Tuition: $240 + $40 materials fee

Located on 8 acres in the South Salem Hills, Skyline Fiber Mill creates beautiful yarns from the ground up: skirting, scouring, picking, carding, pin drafting and spinning. In this workshop, students will tour this working wool mill with Skyline owners Wayne and Eileen Doolin: learning the steps that transform raw wool to roving, and ultimately to yarn. Day-two, back in the Portland Studio: students will explore knitting without needles, using thick fibers spun at Skyline. Students will learn how to adjust yarn gauges, cast on, arm knit, bind off, slip stitch finishing and weave in ends, ultimately creating a large-scale rug or tapestry.
