Bellwether Wool Company is a partnership between Lois Olund of Blakesley Creek Farm and Linda Hansen of Dayspring Farm. Together they raise Cormo, Wensleydale, Border and Bluefaced Leicester sheep, as well as angora rabbits and alpaca. Bellwether Wool Company produces colorful roving, batts and yarns produced with care and love in Oregon’s coastal foothills near Philomath. In this 2-day workshop we will tour Blakesley Creek Farm, home of Bellwether Wool Company, learning about the sheep and how each breed produces a unique fiber, suited to different applications. In the evening, students will travel to a coastal cabin in Seal Rock, and enjoy a group dinner on Saturday night, and breakfast in the morning. On day two, the group will explore various types of animal fiber, learning the techniques of wet, needle, cobweb and nuno felting techniques. Students will create their own sample and technique notebook that they can take home with them.
